Inside the Studio: A Glimpse Into EMP’s Creative Process

Art is often described as something made by the hands, but for me, it is something that begins in the heart — and flows through the soul.

When people ask how I create my abstract pieces at EMP, the truth is both simple and mysterious: I don’t always know.

What I do know is that each piece comes from a place of deep emotion, a moment where feeling and intuition merge, and the universe itself seems to move through me.

In this blog, I’ll offer a glimpse into what creating art looks like in my world — a process shaped not by rigid plans, but by surrender, gratitude, and trust.

Art as a Channel, Not a Blueprint

In traditional studios, artists often begin with a clear vision, sketches, and a mapped-out composition.

At EMP, my process is much less about control — and much more about listening.

Each piece begins with a sensation:

  • A wave of emotion

  • A memory rising without warning

  • A quiet whisper from somewhere beyond words

Rather than trying to impose an idea onto the canvas, I allow these sensations to guide my movements, my color choices, and the rhythm of the work.

I don’t always understand what is emerging until it has already begun to take shape.

In this way, I believe my role as an artist is not to dictate, but to receive.

The Role of Emotion in Creation

Every piece I create is rooted in a specific emotional moment.

  • Sometimes it’s overwhelming gratitude

  • Sometimes it’s profound longing

  • Sometimes it’s the silent strength of resilience

These emotions are not intellectualized; they are felt, deeply and urgently, and the art becomes the container through which they move.

Color, form, and texture become the language for feelings that cannot be neatly expressed in words.

At EMP, abstraction allows me to tell emotional truths that would otherwise remain hidden or unspoken.

It’s not about creating an image.

It’s about creating a space — a moment — where others can feel something genuine, too.

Trusting the Unseen

One of the most sacred parts of my creative process is surrendering control.

When I step into my studio, I leave behind expectations, comparisons, and the noise of the outside world.

I trust that if I show up — fully open, fully present — something meaningful will find its way onto the canvas.

Some days, the work feels effortless, as if I am simply following invisible threads.

Other days, it’s slower, heavier, full of stops and starts — but even then, I trust that the piece knows where it wants to go, even if I don’t.

This relationship with the unknown keeps the act of creating alive, vulnerable, and infinitely humbling.

Gratitude as Part of the Process

More than anything, creating art for me is an act of gratitude.

Gratitude for the emotions that fuel the work.

Gratitude for the opportunity to share something true and unfiltered with others.

Gratitude for the mystery — the moments when something larger than myself seems to flow through my hands.

I don’t take it lightly. Every piece created at EMP is a quiet thank you to whatever unseen forces allow creativity to pass through me.

It is a gift I am continually learning to honor.

Sharing the Journey

Each piece you see from EMP is not just a final product — it’s a moment of being fully alive.

It’s an invitation into a feeling, a memory, a movement too vast for words alone.

When you experience my work, I hope you can sense the heartbeat behind it — the raw moments of emotion, the trust in the unseen, the gratitude poured into every brushstroke.

Because while the process of creating is deeply personal, the act of sharing it with the world is an act of connection.

It reminds me, again and again, that none of us are alone in what we feel.
